Rancilio Rocky vs Others for drip coffee

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

I need a drip/FP only grinder. A Ditting would be nice but by the time you factor in the ensuing divorce its just a little too expensive. Somewhere around $300 is the limit.

I'm leaning toward a DL Rocky. It seems the only others to consider would be one of the Baratza's or a Capresso Infinity. Comments from anyone with knowledge of the tradeoffs between the Rocky and others would be appreciated (grind quality, failure rates etc..).

Aside from my Mini I also have a Cuisinart Pro-something-or-other. I consider this the standard of bad grinders. Reviews on CG confirm my sediments. If anyone can compare this little gem to their recommendation that would also be helpful. TIA.

Well the cool thing about a Rocky is if your Mini ever tanks, you can use the Rocky as a backup. That's my sentiment... I bought the Rocky as my first with Silvia, then got the Jr, then the K30, and I'm keeping the Rocky for drip grinding, but also as a backup in case my K30 needs work.

The Rocky will be here Friday. I know it will last, that it does a good job grinding and the resale is insane If I go completely crazy and buy a Ditting. I don't think I could do any better for $300. Looking forward to the simplification of my morning routine.

As for the Bunn, I have no idea. Personally, I just read the reviews and look for the trends in the comments. So far it has served me well. Good Luck.
