I don't expect it to last long. His micro lots are some of the finest coffees I've ever had from South America. Hopefully next week I'll be picking up some of those via Cafe Imports. These are probably quite good.
Here's the link to the one coffeemmichael mentions.

I grabbed a pound of Peña's (Lot 1) from Spyhouse. Tony Querio, their roaster, finished 1st last year with Peña's coffee. Cafe Import's is Peña's Lot 3. Have no idea how they may or may not differ.TomC wrote:I don't expect it to last long. His micro lots are some of the finest coffees I've ever had from South America. Cafe Imports had a few different Microlots of Juan Pena's. The one I'm referring to was Lot #5, which was the top cupping lot of them all, of which there was only 6 bags total and wasn't offered to the public. They still have the Lot 3 however, yes.Boldjava wrote:I grabbed a pound of Peña's (Lot 1) from Spyhouse. Tony Querio, their roaster, finished 1st last year with Peña's coffee. Patience isn't my best virtue. 3 days off roast. Prepared in Yama 8-cup vacpot/Corning filter.Boldjava wrote:I grabbed a pound of Peña's (Lot 1) from Spyhouse...
The Cup
Strawberry/cherry, green apple, lime, peach (particularly in aftertaste). A soft Juicy Fruit gum before it was reformulated.
Medium light cup. Slight dryness, creating salivation. Light tannins/nut skin. Clean.

If I didn't know better, I would say a natural. But Tony says washed typica. Wow. I would love to have seen the processing. Will talk with Tony and get some back-story.
Note: Spyhouse has a $5/flat rate charge on any order. https://spyhousecoffee.com/collections/ ... al-reserve

Sweet Maria's is offering a honey processed Colombian. A first for me so I grabbed a couple of pounds.

Also if anyone is interested they are discounting a bunch of espresso and cappuccino cups.

Thanks for posting about the honey processed Colombian, Robert. I'm a big fan of dry processed but have been a bit bored of the traditional offerings of DP. I'm looking forward to trying this as well.

Grabbed 40 lbs of Eth Yirge Buna for the Gopher Gulpers. Washed. 92. Apricot and nectarine. He recommends for espresso. I prefer the washed Yirges for espresso. The notes alone are worth a read.

Ordered 20 pounds myself. I expect that one to not last long.
