Just started practicing with my new machine and had a question about the amount of water coming through the steam wand. In 15 seconds I measured almost 1/4 cup of water. Seems awfully excessive. Is the pressure too low? It was as warmed up as possible, after about 30 minutes. Pressure won't go above 0.8 bar, though.

You should be getting mostly steam and not water as found in a hot water nozzle. If it's a new machine I would inquire with your place of purchase as to your issue. Does this have a single on button or a dual button low\high ? Can you measure the temperature of the water coming out of the nozzle ?

Single On button. I'll try to get some temp measurements tonight

Temperature reading was about 150 degrees F. Not much water this time, but I hadn't pulled a shot prior to this test, as before

1/4c in 15s sounds like a lot. Are you filling the boiler past the sight glass?

Good point Scott. Sometimes the simplest things are easiest to overlook.

That water should be in the mid 180's F from my experience.
