How do you like that Cimbali grinder? The lines are much nicer than those of the Max and Jr grinders.

The Magnum does great results. Not to be compared with my former Rocky.

As am I. The test equipment just visits, everything else I had to spend my kids college fund on.

It would be nice if they built a Max in that case (hint hint Cimbali). Or even the Jr hybrid, I think that design would be much easier for many home baristas (and significant others) to live with in the kitchen. The brushed stainless box of the Max and Jr are very industrial looking, but you can't beat the grind.

For my first anniversary with Miss Silvia, I installed an Auber PID and purchased a new style Rancilio portafilter. Although I am happy with my current setup, visiting this forum often won't help prevent catching upgradeitis.

I have had this setup for several days now and still getting the hang of it, but I am happy with the shots I am cranking out already, though I know they will get better. I love the way this looks on the counter, though my girlfriend was quite surprised to see how much room it takes up. I am winning her over though with morning Macchiatos!Image

VERY happy with Anita. Note the yogurt cup and skewer for WDT - very effective but decidedly messy. We'll see if I outgrow the Rocky and the process in the future...

I keep telling my wife that our son will be smart enough for scholarships. He's due in about a month now, wow. I'm sure starting early with espresso will make him absolutely prodigious!

Up to now my arguments have worked on the $400 grinder, the $1700 machine (when I already had a La Pavoni), and just this week the $300 Behmor. I am pretty concerned about being able to talk my way into, say, an Elektra Sixties or a Synesso Cyncra...

Here's my OFFICE setup (I know, wrong thread!)

Olympia Express Cafferex (built in 1989)
Nuova Simonelli MCF grinder
Grindstein knockbox
Compressore Wood Handle Espresso Tamp
Bumper tamper stand
Rancilio inox base

The home setup is changing, too, as my La Valentina is being replaced with a new Elektra T1 -- picts of that when the installation is complete.

My fiancée really appreciates this setup and warning. Despite the current mess it does work well in the confined space. Currently I have an Isomac Millennium and Mazzer Mini. Next up is a dual boiler that can be plumbed in, but this will have to wait for a place of our own rather than the apartment that we currently rent. Suggestions gladly taken.

Haven't posted on HB before, I have been content to just read others so far.
So here is my current set up.
Silvia with Pid, LM bottomless portafilter, plexiglass top, and led bling lights a la Mark prince's monster linea :D
And then a mazzer major(more like major overkill for a home setup, but at least I can say "my grinder is bigger than your grinder  ")

My every expanding setup

Link to "Post a pic of your home espresso setup..."by tcampbells on Thu May 08, 2008 12:01 pm

My entry into coffee has expanded greatly from the original automatic drip (Braun 4 cup auto drip hidden away) and now covers most ways of preparing coffee....
Image
(From Left to right)
Hario 3 cup Siphon Pot
GB 3 cup Mokka Pot
Gas Coffee stove
Solis 166 burr grinder
Rancilio Rocky Doserless
Tiamo 58mm Tamper and grinder brush
Tiamo Knock box (I can knock for a week and only half full it!)
Rancilio Silvia (Old model bought as an entry into espresso this year)
Ikea 5 cup French Press (on the Silvia)
Junior 600ml - Ice (Water) Drip Coffee maker
and assorted coffees waiting

Next step is home roasting

Beautiful setup! Very nice handy work, too. I also like your fire engine red Super Jolly. It has some real character!

Maybe you didn't start at the beginning. Both of my Majors are bigger than your grinder. They still wear their 'hats'! ; >

The Espressocraft, which I just got today, is supposed to be 58.2. Since I don't have a caliper, I can only compare it to the Protamp below - it does appear to be a teeny bit bigger.

Image

I've been using my new Protamp (I've got one of the first ones for Anita as well) with it's nifty convex shape for about a week now. I like it! But I like my other one too. It'll be interesting to compare the two and see if my shots extract differently.

Image

The Espressocraft is lighter than the Protamp as well. Hmmm! I've been playing with Monsooned Malabar in my new VBM and if I use my previous method with it, which was to grind very fine, overdose and tamp lightly - a lighter tamper could be helpful.
