...and where do I find cabinet lumber with magnetic power? Ironwood?

(Seriously....is there a magnet behind or something? Never seen that before!)

You'd be surprised! A family that has their own built in barista can grow to be quite finicky!

Alexia PID and LaCimbali Max Hybrid

Link to "Post a pic of your home espresso setup..."by seattlesetters on Fri Mar 28, 2008 12:15 pm

This is a very hastily-taken (and amateurish) photo of my new Qucik Mill Alexia (with Jim Gallt's PID kit) and La Cimbali Max Hybrid. I got the set-up yesterday, and have already been able to pull some decent shots. However, I must admit to not sleeping very well last night, due to all the experimenting...

I took out double oven and I'm so glad that I did it. (These pics were taken three years ago)

Is this considered a naked Silvia with rollers in her hair?

I'd be afraid of her shocking me when trying to use her.

Since I've been lurking for quite a while now, I figured I would post my setup... Nothing Fancy... A San Remo Treviso with a Mazzer Super Jolly with the hopper from a Mini.

Mom's house.

She's had the Barista for probably 8 years and just recently she told my brother and I that she was getting into using it. Since she was grinding at the local shop and bringing it home, my brother and I got her the Virtuoso to match it. We may have undershot it a bit as she is now:

- using a scale for measuring beans
- bought a more accurate thermometer for steaming
- taking cupping classes at a local *$ and sampling varietals
- she's asking if she can mass the beans prior to grinding to make sure none are being trapped in the grinding mechanism. That's why the hopper is empty - she only scoops in enough for each shot and keeps the beans in a dark, dry place in a sealed container.

possibly most telling....
- taking photos of coffee equipment in her kitchen and emailing them....

She even spent a couple hours cleaning the Cuisinart for guests.

As embarrassing as it is to post my setup in it's modest surroundings....

The Futurmat is was on a trial run. It's at work now.

The PID'ed, plumbed Faema is the housemates. So is Rocky. Runs like a champ. Thanks John!!

The crappy carpet is all mine. We even recently put in the 20A outlet to the left of the Faema to keep the space heater conflicts to a minimum.

The Laurentis and Astoria are in the basement with the SM90.

Sounds like a serious coffee enthusiast in the making. Maybe you could get her more manual coffee makers like a french press or vacuum brewer and directions for use from forums like HB. Then stand back and see what happens.
