"Just yesterday, it stopped working. I assume a stray coffee ground did just as you described."
You really wanted to say "it ground to a halt." Didn't you? Didn't you?
The slow flow (normal double-shot flow rate) heats up Silvia's brewhead far better than a high flow flush. The water has a very low velocity - 1.25 feet per second or thereabouts IIRC and that does wonders for heat transfer. I'm monitoring a couple of temps on my Silvia and flowing the hot water through the orifice provided a means of getting the girl up to temp very fast in the AM.
I don't do it too much anymore because she is now on a timer and the "normal flush" works just fine for getting her ready for that first double-shot in the AM.
