Anyone see anything unusual about this cremina (besides the low price)?

Hi, My guess is that it is a removable water funnel to aid the filling of the reservoir.

There was a picture of similar device on an Olympia Club recently here on H-B but I cannot find it at the moment. Supposedly a way of filling the boiler while it was pressurized, but I don't know how the mechanism works*.

Regards
Timo

* or if fill-under-pressure is its purpose

A gent whose opinion I always defer to tells me that this reservoir is pretty useless. It cannot be used when the boiler is under pressure. In his opinion it was a rare lapse in the design judgement by Oly.

The gent is correct with regards to the fact it cannot be used to refill under pressure but I wouldn't say useless. Anyway I don't plan to use it and yes, I'm the buyer 8)

It was delivered to me in the original box  According to the seller it was bought by the company where he was working. The Cremina was replaced by another machine as the secretaries that where supposed to make coffee didn't like it so the seller brought it home and never took out of the box. It is in a very good condition and if the sellers story is correct it is working with the original 1972 gaskets. Is this really possible?
