Hey there...

I am in need of a dispersion screen for an Olympia Cremina 67 which I am trying to return to working condition. Does anyone out there have any idea where I might be able to buy one? I have tried Home Espresso Repair in Seattle, Rudy's L&R in NY, and 1st-line with negative results, and Olympia has not replied to my email. I am hoping to actually use this machine but am coming up empty with regard to this one part(a new gasket set would be nice, too). Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

H.E.R. should be able to help you out with gaskets. I also remember seeing them on occassion on ebay. Not "official" Oly parts, but will fit.

Could La Pavoni dispersion screen be brought in as a pinch hitter? Maybe change group head gaskets too?

Do you not have the screen, or is it just very dirty? If you don't have the screen, it is a problem as it is no longer available. If it is just dirty, you can and should clean it up. In extreme cases, an ultrasonic cleaner, brushing and long soak periods can help get it clean. Don't give up on it if is only dirty.

As to gasket sets, see my post:

FWW.
Well, I just collected and drew up all the dimensions of a Cremina screen. I believe that I might make one from a LaPav 49mm Europiccola or Microcasa A Leva" screen.
It will take some time to make the steel metal spinning tooling. Both screens are larger than the Cremina. That is a plus, really! The "a Leva" has a blank spot about 1CM in diameter in the middle of the screen.
I would guess that the modification cost would be about $20 over the cost of the donor screen. Let me know if there is an interest. and someone willing to donate a trial screen.

Richard, I don't have a spare to donate, but I would be interested in getting on the list for a replacement. Many thanks, Cathi

Hi Richard,
Any takers yet on the dispersion screen adaptation for the Cremina? Have just sent for a MCaL screen from 1st Line. I'm willing to be a test case here; let me know the protocol for payment and such.

Sometimes the body does not agree with the mind ( as if I had one.) Working on custom stuff and school projects does stretch a new project out. I need 8 unbroken hours to do the tooling and I haven't seen that lately. The tooling has to be accurate and removable from, and accurately replaceable into my metal lathe.
I do want to do the project!
So I shall let all know when the prototype is done.
I well know that waiting for significant parts is a #$%^&*(.
Cheers
Richard

Replacement screens for Cremina.

Don't look now! It werkz.
First pull of the modified MiCal screen. That is the the original Cremina screen beside the cup

This project needs more trials of the screen tooling to assure a good fit every time. I had to do a bit of tweaking by hand on this one to get it tight. Still a tiny bit loose but no grounds inside when I pulled it off..
The first one goes to the person opening this thread if he will contact me.
Brent, are you there? :?: Edit= 9-26 I believe this project has come to a point that further contact would be by private message. The plan is to make available the rework of each MCal screen on a one at a time basis and make none ahead. Perhaps we may place this information into the Cremina parts sticky at some time in the future. :?:
Cheers!
