Ok, so she wants to get me a subscription. She asked me to choose which one I want. I think I've decided to get a Blue Bottle subscription, but I'm not sure which one to get. I plan to make espresso related drinks (espressos, lattes, cappuccinos). So should I get the "Espresso Medley Gift Subscription"? It looks like you only get 2 types of blends that way... http://www.bluebottlecoffee.net/C...tegory=Gift+Giving

I tried to call them, but I'm sure they are closed for the holidays...

- Thanx in advance!

That's a nice gift!

They may be more flexible on their choices if you call. Most of the online roasters will offer mix-n-match of your choice shipped regularly. Intelligentsia is one of the few that has half-pound coffee choices if you like lots of variety (e.g., one pound of espresso and two 1/2 pounds of a rotating selection). Paradise Roasters has World Passports from their best stock. If I were receiving a gift subscription, I would prefer one that had automatic variety.

I can't imagine a better "subscription" than one to Sweet Maria's. On the back end you'll have total tasting notes. You can trust the roaster (and the beans), and get some of the finest coffee this planet has to offer. You'll be drinking the same beans that Thom roasted for himself, and you can compare your results to his directly from the website.

Go for it! (I would, if I didn't roast my own SM's beans -- also according to Thom's recommendations). Naturally, with home roasting you can adjust the roast (up or down) according to your personal preferences, but SM provides a good (reliable) starting point -- then use your own tasting notes to adjust to your taste.

Bottom line: Sweet Maria's fresh roasted subscription! Bite the bullet and go for the faster delivery upgrade -- fresher is better!
