Hi,

I own a Mokita machine. My problem is that the pump is working properly only if I open the steamer valve. When I open the valve, water come out of the wand no problem, but when I close it the pumps noise change, and no water comes thru the filter.

Any ideas?

Thanks

An obstruction? The sound of a vibe pump changes under load. If that's the case, the tone will lower when you close the steam wand valve. Have you checked the dispersion screen? Maybe it's clogged.

Hello:

I agree, but it may be more than a clogged up dispersion screen.

I have a similar machine.
Yours probably (cannot really say) has a pea and spring 'anti leak and safety valve' combination held in place (upwards, inside the boiler assembly) by a screw that in turn holds the dispersion screen in place. A very common thing in machines that do not have a three way valve such as those in the Imat / Quaha / Mokita / Nemox / Napoletana range, although some newer models may have it.

If it has suffered wear, tear, excess heat or a long period of non-use, it may dried up and stuck in place, needing replacement. Be careful when removing it so as not to damage the valve seat inside.

Hope you sort it out.

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies,

Is it hard to find that valve? Do I need to take the whole boiler out the machine?

I'd say that, unless your machine has a three way valve, the answers to your questions would be 'no' and 'no'. But then, I have not seen it any of it. =^ 7

So, before adventuring any further advice, I think that it would be really useful for all of us here to see a photo of your machine sans the top cover, i.e.: a close up of the boiler assembly as seen from the top and, if at all possible, another one of the dispersion screen (after thoroughly wiping/brushing it clean, of course.)

Cheers,
