I saw this eBay ad for this contraption ... I just couldn't believe someone would actually buy it (or sell it for that matter).

Maxi Brew Handle

This "portafilter" is compatible with espresso cappuccino machines made by Brasilia, Lamarzocco, Faema, Futurema, Cram, Astoria, and possibly many many others that I have not tried it on as yet. This is also known as a party handle. What it means is that when you want to produce 100 cappuccino in less than half an hour you can do it by making 6/8 espresso at a time and then by using an automatic frother complete the cappuccino in seconds.

I really can't imagine what an espresso drink would taste like if it were made 6 to 8 at a time - I mean this just violates a ton of barista 'rules'.

Plus ca change ... Specialized bulk brew groups were once fairly standard on Italian espresso machines. I couldn't scare up a picture, if someone has one, please post it.

I wonder what the shots out of this would taste like... Who knows, perhaps there's an ideal coffee/grind where the fines migration in a super-deep basket would render up the magic!

JB130,

OK, I'm looking at the 2nd photo you posted and I'm saying to myself ...hummmm I know that PF.

Sure enough Know it ...I've had coffee made from it... :D

The two tower machines sit quietly in a cafe, "el gran cafe de la parroquia" Veracruz Mexico.
The coffee that comes out from it are more along the lines of drip than espresso..well to my taste anyway.

But over all the place is a great treat to visit if your ever in the area..more along the lines of a historical lesson than great coffee.

Enjoy and thanks for taking me back to my memories.

Michael.
