Macap M4 - Where are the colors?

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

I know this grinder comes in a myriad of color choices but we only get black and chrome. I'm more partial to the silver powdercoat ala the Mini (I assume it's a powdercoat).

Anyone know if the other colors are slated to enter the U.S.?

Fr. John,

We mostly bring in the chrome models due to the fact that most customers want a matching grinder for their polished stainless steel espresso machine. We will have black Macaps shortly as this is the 2nd most popular finish. There are other colors, but inventory management of additional skus of low moving items not only ties up capital, but also increases costs. In addition, very high quantities of each model grinder must be purchased to gain efficiencies of scale to offer the lower competitive prices you see on the internet today. In other words, if we only ordered 5 or 10 units of the silver color, prices would be higher and customers would be asking why.

You may want to visit Chris Coffee as he may have some silver Macaps left. However, I am unsure if they are stepped or the newer stepless models.

Thanks Jim.

Just what I suspected. Oh well.

You can always gut the machine and have the case powercoated or painted at an auto shop. I stripped my Faema's red frame and had it powdercoated black. I was going to get a TagEx Mazzer special on eBay and have it power coated to match but got a new Cimbali instead. It may sound like a lot of work, but if you want a particular color to match your decor, it is probably the best option.

Jim hit the nail on the head there just isn't enough call for the other colors to stock them. I really like the looks of the red one they make; it's kind of a cross between red and burgundy, but it just doesn't sell. Also the silver on the MACAP is not quite as nice a finish as on the Mazzer. If you have you heart set on silver metallic, go with a Mazzer.
