MACAP M4 Stepless Grinder is On The Way

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

The M4 will be adding (has added) a "stepless adjustment system." Appears to be a brass worm drive running on a plastic adjustment wheel. See picture at http://www.macap.it.

Thanks for the heads up! I had trouble navigating their site with Firefox, so here's the direct link (clicking "Stepless adjustment system" with IE worked) and a picture:

Will there be a retrofit kit available to current M4 owners?

Since the cat is out of the bag, I might as well spill the beans. We have an order of the stepless MACAP grinders that will be in NY tomorrow. I flew them in. I sent one pallet by air and the remainder of my order by sea. I saw these my last trip to Italy in November and ordered them on the spot.

Here is what is NEW from MACAP being carried by Chris' Coffee Service, Inc.

M4 chrome with stepless adjustment and on/off switch
M4 black with stepless adjustment and on/off switch
MC4 chrome with stepless adjustment, doserless, and on/off switch
MXKNC black with stepless adjustment, 350 watt, 64 mm CONICAL 400 RPM
M7KNC black with stepless adjustment, 500 watt, 75 mm CONICAL 400 RPM

I am sorry to say there will be no retrofit kit available for it. That was one of the first questions I asked when I saw them.

Chris, do you mean 1400 RPM (that's from the manufacturer's site)?

You are looking at the specs for the MX / M7 (flat burrs). Click on the MXK / M7K to the right and you'll see the conical models of these grinders (listed at 350 RPM for 50Hz and presumably 400 RPM for the USA's 60Hz).

No I mean 400 RPM's. The ones they sell in Italy that are 230 volt running on 50 hz are 350 RPM's. The RPM's of the MXK and the M7K in 110 volt running on 60 hz are 400 RPM's.

Here is the link to MACAP's site Click Here on the MXK and the M7K.

They are competition to Mazzer Kony and Robur.

The selling price will be considerable less then the Kony and the Robur too, hundreds less.

Chris. Does the doserless have a fork for the portafilter? When do you expect to have them posted on your web site?
Thanks

No it's the same grinder they have always offered, EXCEPT it has stepless adjustment now.
