Should this happen ? It drips for at least a minute after pouring a shot so I always have to clean the drip tray . I have never replaced seals or done any maintenance as I have a only had the machine a short time . Any suggestions ?

Same thing for me. But after a few weeks I got over my "new machine" obsession and let the drip tray do its' job--that's why it's called a drip tray
By the way, I've noticed that's it's easier to remove the spent puck when it's dried a little--about 60 seconds worth of dripping.

Could you get it to drip faster by raising the lever (not too high!) and lowering it again?

That is what I have to do with my Presso 'cause there is usually quite a bit of excess water in the chamber after finishing a shot. A bit of a pain, I have to say.

You are saying that water is dripping after you complete a shot and you have removed the portafilter? This should not happen. Is it a new machine, or just new to you? Sounds like gasket time.

No Steve , after pouring a shot and without removing the PF the machine will continue to drip for a few minutes. As other people have said this happens to them I am not too worried . By the way , thanks for all the great info here.

Well if it is dripping after leaving the portafilter in place then you may be OK. I would suggest that you don't leave it too long. You don't want to gunk up your dispersion screen and get unnecessary residue on your piston head. Also as you wash and clean the drip tray, please ensure that you fully dry the pieces and the base of the machine before you put it back. They have a bad tendency to rust and a little preventive care will keep your machine looking better/longer.
