No, no, no!! Must resist, don't need another espresso machine. The Speedster would be the only thing I would sell my beloved Elektra (and wife, kids, car, motorcycle...) to get. They have rumored at a production run of these for a couple of years now. Chris Tacy will probably be #1 in line for this baby.

Wow, that is incredible. Something has to be done to stop it. If this machine comes to market, it will destroy families and cause incurable espresso machine envy.

I hope there's a version for North American power -- last I inquired, he was only planning to do a 220V version.

Doesn't everyone have a 30 amp 220 run to their espresso bar? I also dropped 2 20 amp 110's and a filtered, regulated ½ inch water mains. The wife thinks I am a bit excessive; I just like to think of it as prepared.

I can almost guarantee, the speedster will be nearly three times the cost of a sixties series Elektra. I would guess near $10K with shipping.

Alright, we have a $10K number. Let's start hearing the complaints about how overpriced it is! ;)

Who's first?

Why complain about the price of outright artwork? If you weren't wanting to pay the super-premium for the artwork, couldn't you just buy a GS3?

As Kees' workshop is an hour's drive away from my office I may have an urge for a detour tomorrow.
The Speedster is plumbed in though, so the most expensive part of wanting it would be to have to move house.
Dang!

The version shown in the picture seems to have a home grown group, whereas the initial series had LM groups.
I have even been dreaming of swappable groups, so you can have an Idrocompresso one day, the LM version next, the E/61 next. Now that would be something.

That is the most beautiful espresso machine I've ever seen.

I am just not worthy of it.

I actually have a Kees at home that I use all the time. Regrettably, it is only his nifty tamping base, which is very handy for single spouts. :D

Kees used to give them away with his machines, and a client gave me one. Don't know if he still makes them. He wouldn't sell them, anyway.

That thing looks like it will dig into your portafilter. I currently have the Bumper tamping base and it has a nice rubber surface and on a kitchen counter it can easily be pushed away to regain the counter space, tamping base and tamper nicely tucked away.

That's not what Marshall says!

I'm looking forward to see (and taste the espresso produced by) the new brew group :D

Actually, it's the other way around. After years of use, there isn't a mark on my portafilters, but lots of dings on the base (I think mostly from the edges of my bottomless).

I currently have the Bumper tamping base and it has a nice rubber surface and on a kitchen counter it can easily be pushed away to regain the counter space, tamping base and tamper nicely tucked away.

I screwed mine onto a block of teakwood and put rubber feet on the block for the same reason.

I don't understand why you say his is the only one nifty for single spouts, the Bumper tamping base would work very well for single, double or naked.

Where did I say that?

If you could ask questions to Kees, about the Speedster Mk II, or another of his creations/contraptions, what would they be?

Do they come with an LM or other warranty?

Would he be willing to place a couple dozen of them into a rental program like this - http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/?

I'd rent it for when my brother comes to visit. Then I wouldn't have to rent Chanel Sunglasses to impress him.
