Working on fine tuning my initial long idle flush to coincide with flush & go during a series I wondered what the shot temp would do if I just kept a shot going. This is on a Bric', boiler pressure tuned down to about .95-1.15bar. Using my usual procedure with simulated screen flush & PF blank wiggle approx 2.5oz volume right after shot then pause for simulated PF fill. This pause I'm no longer exact timing but rather going by boiler cycle. It's always on end of wiggle, then on once arount 25 to 30 sec later, then on again just over a minute from end of wiggle. Right after it comes on at that point I start the flush & go. Was on about 8th pull in series when decided to just let the Thermofilter shot keep going. Initially shot peeked 202.1F with a low of 200.2F around end of normal shot time. As I let it keep running through Thermofilter temp started rising. Broke 202F about 5.5oz and I decided to stop, wasn't sure how good it is to run the pump constant. Using a countdown from 25sec not countup timer so didn't time that long pull. Don't know how much further it would have climbed or how I'll use the information for better shot production, but thought it was interesting! But I think it does point to HX seeking back to a specific temp at the group head, surfing simply tricks it lower, and so HX shot likely can't be super intra-shot stable unless boiler pressure/temp an ideal point for a given shot temp.
Part of the reason is to figure out some routines so Debi can reasonably easily use the Bric'. It'd just be for Americanos and caps so her shot temp not quite as critical. And I in fact disagree with shots not critical for Americanos and caps but know she won't get into flush counts etc. But they are somewhat more forgiving, or rather masking, so want a middle of the road approx 202F target by volume flushes for her routine.
