After going through 6 kg in 9 weeks I have to take back my recommendation - It's facinating the first week or two, but ....

Recently I have been spending some time with Barrington Gold from Barrington Coffee Roasters. I add it here as a good espresso of course, but more for its consistent performance. A person new to espresso would do well to begin with this as a full cup of crema is easy to come by. It has its robusta additive and thus has that woody after taste that I usually do not prefer but I like it. Gold ages nicely as well - 14 days does not result in some shocking salty, bitter msg flavor as some others I have tried.

Ever since Tony's Ambrosia has been 'out of the loop' lately, I've been ordering Espresso Classico from Paradise Roasters and this is one fantastic coffee!

Shots are very consistent, beautiful crema through my Cremina and they can stand on their own or in milk where it holds up extremely well.

Kudos to one fine everyday espresso blend!

Given your location (Cedar Rapids) I'd probably suggest the DOMA Vito's Blend.

Espresso Toscano

Whether it is done at CCC's lab, Murky, or one of the other shops I have had it Toscano always wins out. It is like having home-made butter laid on my tongue - melting away! It is just fantastic.

My fav's... Sorry - can't pick one. And it really depends on if I'm blending with milk or drinking straight up. All are excellent espresso's IMO.

For straight espresso drinking:
Counter Culture - Espresso Aficionado
Paradise Roaster - Espresso Havana

For milk drinks:
Counter Culture - Espresso Toscano
PT's - Bella Vita
Paradise Roaster - Espresso Classico

I am definitely not as well versed as many of you on here, but my favorite thus far is Just Coffees' Firecracker Blend

What are you making the espresso on? Do you need a forgiving blend or can you get pretty tight on your temp. control?

I tend to like Klatch's Belle Espresso, the sister in the corner without so many awards hanging on her.

I have to add one to the list... happen to buy a piece of used equipment from him and decided to buy a pound of beans from his as well. EXCELLENT. I tend to like a lighter roast espresso blends (at least not dark & oily) and found this excellent straight up or in milk. Smaller roaster - but certainly doing a good job.
