Maybe if enough people asked, Chris would think about selling the conical model.

I would love to have a conical burr grinder of this quality wouldn't you??

If Chris doesn't have it try Jim at 1st-line.com they carry MACAP as well. I'm sure if you ask one of them they can probably get it for you.

We have the first order placed with Macap. These should be available in the USA in January or February of 2006. A price has not been determined yet as the price is based on the Euro exchange rate.

Great! I've been waiting for a conical burr grinder of similar quality to the Mazzer Mini. I look forward to it!

You should expect this, or any other large conical grinder to be quite expensive. If it really is a 63mm conical, it is only 5mm smaller than a Eureka and Rossi, and will be priced in that same ballpark. Probably double that of a Super Jolly and more than a major.

There is still not a reasonable mid line conical that I am aware of. The motor necessary to churn a 60+mm mill at sub 400 rpm is not cheap, and Macap is not crap.

This may not yet be the droid you are looking for.

Over half of the manufacturers in Italy produce conicals--there is no shortage. The shortage is over here.

I have not seen this. If it is truly a hybrid conical, then it is basically the 64mm version of the Versalab setup. The only advantage to the hybrid is that the cone pre-crushes the coffee and it is ground by traditional flat mills, though the flat mills spin slower and have a uniform grinding surface without pre-crushing.

The 68mm hybrids have been discontinued in favor of the 64mm's. Don't know why.

The only real advantage of the hybrid is that you only have to replace half the set when they wear out.

There are no full size conical bargains that I am aware of.

Yet.
