Hi everybody!!!

I own a Golia Spidem machine. it is great and has been given me great espresso. But it is about time I get around to clean the calcium out of it. Is there any product I could use that can exhaustively clean my machine? Any products in a shop like Home Depot or Walmart or the like?

Jim's Water FAQ explained how to remove calcium (descale). He also covered the procedure for descaling HXs. The good news is that yours is a single boiler and thus can follow the less complicated procedure. CleanCaf is a combination descaling agent (citric acid) and mild detergent; it's around $4 a box. Or you can mix your own with citric acid power (e.g., from brewery stores or some pharmacies). Even white vinegar will work well enough for non-HX espresso machines, except for a little smell and extra flushing.

Thanks Dan,

just a big thank you. First I was having trouble with the pump and H-B furnished advice as to how to work around this problem on an old machine for which even Spidem claims having no spares... the solution was simple to work through and the pump works beautifully. Now I have to proceed in this cleaning procedure

thanks again
