How often to replace burrs in Mazzer Jolly home use?

How often should one replace the burrs in a Mazzer Jolly which is in a home environment? Figure about a kilo of espresso a week. I heard in a commercial setting you'd do it at least once a year.

The manual recommends replacing burrs every 400kg (about 900lb). Even with a 2X conservative replacement schedule of 200kg, standard burrs should be good for several years. Duranium burrs should last approximately forever (but be sure to read about stalling issues).

That brings up a question I've got. Has anyone had the same problems with a Rio Normale or the Astoria SJ with the upgraded motor? If memory serves me it was a problem with the start capacitor, but I was just wondering if the stronger motor in those grinders takes care of the problem people were having with grinder stalling.

My "Mazzer" SJ is actually a Rio, one of the used Tagex specials from a few years ago. Best $120 I ever spent on espresso.

The start capacitor may be a likely culprit for stalling, but I don't think that's been established. I've heard differing opinions from informed sources.

What are those varying opinions? I just acquired a SJ, and am considering either the Duranium or the duramills from EPNW, but I am a bit worried about burning the motor up.

If you purchased it new, your children should replace them after they inherit the grinder at the reading of the will or after the grinder eats a stone that got missed by the coffee roaster.

What is the difference between these two, other than the price? I just got a SJ as a graduation/early father's day present. Got it from Sebastian at Great Infusions with the Duraniums. It's fast and a nice upgrade from the Mini, which I haven't figured out what to do with...
