Hi,

Newbie here with a Saeco Incanto Classic. I have been toying with the machine trying to get a good consistent shot (and I hardly know a good shot other than that some are bitter and some are not). I messed with the time (or is it quantity) setting by holding down the button while the shot was being brewed. I was trying to get it to make about an ounce. I then realized that it also only took about 10 seconds for that ounce so I made the grind more fine (now it is at the finest setting). Then I was getting very poor tasting shots so I adjusted the time again to get less quantity.

I am reading that I should be able to get about 1 ounce in about 25 seconds and that it should stop just about the time the color turns to a blond almost transparent color. Assuming all this is correct, which order do I start messing with things to get it back in line?

The timing of shots doesn't apply to super-autos. They simply brew too fast. Restart from your default settings and try to make a 1 oz espresso that tastes good to you. Do not worry about the timing. Getting a decent consistent shot shouldn't be an issue with a super-auto. Be aware that you probably won't get a great shot.
