Okay, still moving forward with my Hottop B. I now have a type k thermocouple inserted directly in the rotating beans which is great as it provides precise readings.
Having been use to the readings with the Hottop thermometer for so long, it is a bit of an adjustment but one that I think will be a huge benefit.
My question is, should I now pretty much ignore the Hottop readings and deal with the thermocouple. I know the Hottop reading is for in the drum but will I need those readings now that I am dealing with temperatures right from the bean surface?
I am actually surprised of the huge discrepancies of temperatures during the pre-heat. The thermocouple is about 100 degrees ahead of the Hottop reading. With that in mind, should I also be using the thermocouple readings in this case when deciding when to drop in the beans?
