Well, I've gone done it..... Followed that rabbit down the hole

1st it was an Estro Vapore
then along came Oscar, then Major, then Europiccola, and to go with my Bodum Kona a Krups Moka Brew!

I couldn't stop there. I went and got a used I-roast. Now the spouse knows I've gone down that hole!

Now I need some help to maximize the utility of this machine.

I've tried a couple of roasts already - it probably doesn't help in that I'm not confident yet about my taste buds when it comes to espresso. With drip, not too bad I think. I can make out some subtle flavors.

Anyways, with espresso I've been mainly using Black Cat, Klatch's Belle or coffee bean I purchased from Lux Coffee bar , Phoenix (they have a great 3 grp lever BTW!).

My questions-
With so much air blowing and beans rolling around I can't tell If I can hear 1st crack. Forgot about 2nd crack.
Bought the Sweet Maria sampler - espresso specific. I've roasted Brazil, and just recently the Espresso Monkey blend. Any roast profiles you guys recommend for me to use other than the standard I/II presets? What should I listen / watch for? Any videos out there that will help me discern what 1st/2nd crack looks or sounds like?

thx in advance
Caesar
