I am renovating/updating my kitchen right now, and would like to put in an espresso "plumbing outlet" for my next rig (something that will allow me to pipe it in, but which I can close up and hide when I move, etc.). However, I don't even know if such a thing exists! If one does, let me know, I want to let my plumber know so that we can order the parts, etc.

I would bring the water line through the countertop (3/8" hole) that converts to a filtered water tap once you move, or a inconspicuously low exit along the bottom of the backsplash. A punch out similar to your refrigerator's ice cube hookup is another option that you can later cover with a face plate. You don't need much of a water debit to run an espresso machine and a double gang box should do it.

If you're working through a kitchen designer, ask them for suggestions. They always have great ideas that your spouse will love and costs a small fortune.
