The factory can provide all the parts for these superb machines and they are very helpful:

http://www.olympia-express.ch/default.htm

If you go to service and support and click on the Cremina 67 and technical information USA, it will bring up an interactive parts blow up of the machine. Just click on the circled part number of what you want-in this case, number 27 and you will get the part number and the price $20.33. I believe you can even order from this page. They are also terrific about help and support for these machines.

I purchased one for my Cremina from 1st-line. Email 1st-line coffee and that you want to order the basket. They will warn you that the basket is for the newer model and fits the portafilter handle loose and the rim may catch on the group and may be hesitant to sell it to you. This issue is true. They are just afraid that you will return it. Since this is your only option, I suggest you buy it and fix the issue. What I did to resolve it was carefully place the rim of the basket on the round end of a hammer held in a vice and tap the edge with another hammer until it no longer stuck out far enough to catch. There will be no visible signs or hammering or any damage if you are careful. To keep it in the portafilter snugly I place 3 small cork pads about half way down in the portafilter. I just wanted to make you aware of this issue before you order and that it is really your only option--as far as I know. I believe the basket is about $27 shipped. Good luck.

Best wishes,
Lance

Colin

The Olympia site lists two different part numbers for the basket for the two different models:

2002 OLY 25.6.326
67 07.0500.10.20

I do not know if they are different or not, they are both the same price. Markus did tell me the other day that they were always loose in the 67 and that he has added a spring in the 2002 to retain the basket. He suggests a technique of catching the rim of the basket with your finger while using a knock box with the loose fitting baskets. If done right, you should not burn yourself, but it takes a little finesse to get it.

I hope this helps.

Thanks again :)

Really though - do I need a separate filter basket ? I cut the perforated bottom off an old filter, then trimmed and smoothed it to fit snugly in the bottom of the Cremina portafilter handle . Luckily it's a concave shape down in the bottom of the cup so the disc makes a good seal . It seems to work fine , except that by using the correct amount of coffee there ends up being more of an air space between the shower screen and the coffee . Ya think that matters at all ?

I would question whether you could get a really good tamp that way. I did order a new double from the factory and it works fine with my older machine. I like having a couple to do multiple drinks.

Did you say $3? Tell you what, I will let you double your money right now. Standing offer of $6 to take it of your hands and save you years of aggravation trying to get the perfect shot.

Post some pics. Would like to see your find.
