Hey all, today I started following RegulatorJohnson's descale method as outlined here:
http://www.expobarownersgroup.com...ew&id=13&Itemid=32

I moved the switch on the bottom of the water tank holding area so that it would fill when up rather than when pushed down as shown in those instructions. At first everything was going fine. I emptied the boiler through the hot water tap and then turned the machine on. It began to refill. I turned it back off for a second to adjust my water intake tube that is stuck into a gallon water jug right now. Then I turned it back on and it would not continue to refill the boiler. I checked the connection of the wires on the weight switch where the normal water tank goes. They look fine. The pump still works because it will pump water out the brew head and I can see the water pumping out of the tank into the boiler as well while the pump is turned on. It just won't pump to fill the boiler.

Any ideas?

I posted this at expobarownersgroup too but then it occurred to me that the traffic there is very slow and I might not get an answer for a while. I'd like to get this solved today if possible.

Strange.. I put the wires back to the way they're supposed to be and put the tank back in with some water in it and the pump worked. I tried the exact same thing 15 minutes ago and the pump didn't work. :?

Well, looks ok for now but if anyone has had that happen and has an idea why I'd like to hear it.

What happens if you remove the lead from the water level sensor? It should immediately begin to fill the boiler.

EDIT: I haven't read the instructions you followed, but I'll guess the water level sensor was grounded.

Seems like it should have filled it anyway since it wasn't all the way full. In fact it was getting quite close to empty.

I finished the rest of the process with no further problems other than a little shock as a result of my own carelessness.

This is probably for mains vs plumbed operation, although expobar don't mention it in their manual. I have seen a few come wired "wrongly" from the factory, the default should be for tanked operation.

Yeah, I switched to the plumbed setting so that I could run water from a larger external tank during this process.
