hello all,

have here two hwp's which have died in typical calliope trumpeter fashion. upon prising them open was surprised to find that the motor shaft turns easily by hand. has anyone found a good repair?

thank you,

I will guess that the problem is what is a reportedly common failure point- The HWP had a weak thrust washer design. The noise is probably the fan rubbing because the shaft/armature has moved position. There is a post on alt.coffee about a modification that can be done. IIRC, someone else once posted about using a penny under the shaft's end to properly support it, and that is mentioned in that thread as well.

ideor, If you would like a HW Precision base for parts PM me. Circuit board or the heating element is broken. Motor and fan works fine. I've replaced the board once. New board or the heater eventually gave out. It's yours for shipping cost.
