Tonight the site was migrated to the phpBB version 3 and the look was updated, thanks to the talents and skills of DaveW from EspressoParts! :D

Thanks are also due to Joey (multigl) for helping me work through the finer points of CSS/HTML. Thanks gentlemen! And of course thanks to the beta testers. I expect there will be a few buglets that escaped our collective notice; please note them here and I'll look into them. The "look" is a work in progress and your comments are welcome too.

A shock to the system but it does look pretty good. The more I look at it the more it feels right.

One request though? Please have a higher contrast between postings. When I scroll down or up the whole page bleeds into one color block. I'd like to see at least an option to adjust this. I also have a hard time telling where the breaks are between posts.

I also miss seeing the announcements on the main forum home page, but its nice to have them in each forum now though too.

Other than that it looks great, good work, its appreciated!

The font on the homepage for the 'Reviews, how-To, forums, etc... is real tiny. you need to change the size tag.

That's right - at least in Explorer. Not so bad in Firefox but font size is too large on the rest of the page.

Masthead banner ads are extending beyond the masthead trim and into the tan side bar.

Can You Change the Font Style & Size?

Link to "HB site update"by perstare on Sun Mar 02, 2008 12:13 am

Hello Dan, Just left a post on your beta site when I saw you started this one. Like anything new or changed, it will take a (short?) period of time getting used to. What immediately caught my attention is the font change--narrower & smaller which presents a problem with people afflicted with presbyopia. Would you consider the previous font style & size you used?

In IE7, with my laptop resolution, they are so small you cannot read it.

Shading difference between sequential posts is too small. It's hard to tell where one post ends and the next begins.

EDIT: I think the shading is dependent on a vertical gradient, stronger at the top of the screen. That can't be right.

I agree. Additional contrast would appreciably assist the reader/poster.

I noted this in my earlier post as well. (Just a friendly note to avoid repeats) I think Dan is going to be busy for a while! :D

If any posters are CSS literate and want to propose their own color scheme, here's the style sheet:

styles/prosilver/theme/hb3.css

It's the standard phpBB3 template with modifications.

Oops, that will teach me for not testing more thoroughly on IE7. It looks great in Firefox. :P

Tim and others--not to take away from you. Perhaps when more people agree and chime in on the contrast issue and hopefully the font style and font size issues as well (I'm sure I'm not the only one who is presbyopic), Dan will be more apt to make the changes we would like. Regards,

Actually, now both masthead and text font size on the rest of the home page is too large in FF.

Bill is right, photos don't display. Did the links get properly mogrified?

John, text font is narrower and smaller than the previous incarnation. I use Firefox.

Font size is inconsistent in FF. Looks good on Forums and Marketplace, but it's too large on the home page, Reviews, HowTos, etc.

Respectfully disagree & agree. Forum's & Marketplace's font is too small and narrow. Home Page in FIREFOX is way too big.
