An easy-to-find "F1" link to a how to use the HB website seems to not exist. I wanted to find out how to delete one of my posts but could not find anything..... maybe even a "DELETE THIS POST" icon on the bar of the post would be nice- next to the Quote and Edit icons, maybe? maybe it's just me? Maybe because it's Friday? maybe because I came of age in the late 60's? maybe... what was I asking, again?

Randy-

I have had moderator access so long now that I forget what it looks like as an end-user. Perhaps Dan has it so that you cannot delete posts, but you can edit them. If you are logged in, click the Edit button, Image and delete the contents of the post, perhaps leaving a message for a moderator to delete the post when they come upon it. [As a moderator, I see the Delete button, Image, right next to the Edit button.]

If you want to rename a thread that you've started to something more meaningful, edit the post and change the Subject line. This will change the thread title in the Forums view.

I agree that an example page of some BBcode might be helpful.... any specific request?

Thanks Randy, I will add a pointer to Posting Issues, Formatting and Topic Types, and other Forum FAQs to the mother of all HB FAQs, the FAQs and Favorites Digest. It's the stock phpBB FAQ, which documents the bare minimum forum usage, including How do I edit or delete a post?

Unless you are the board admin or forum moderator you can only edit or delete your own posts. You can edit a post (sometimes for only a limited time after it was made) by clicking the edit button for the relevant post... Please note that normal users cannot delete a post once someone has replied.

It's the last sentence that applies to your case. If nobody has posted a reply after your post, you're free to delete it. This comes in handy, for example, if you accidentally double post. Once someone has posted a reply, all posts prior to it cannot be deleted except by moderators, so the delete button Image is not shown. This is to avoid disrupting the flow of the thread if person X posts, person Y replies, then person X decides to delete their original post, removing the context of person Y's reply.

Sometimes it happens that someone posts immediately after you accidentally double post, preventing you from tidying up after yourself. In that case just edit the text to "DOUBLE POST - PLEASE DELETE" or similar text and one of the moderators will tidy up.

Being on dial-up means that sometimes things are not as they should be. I posted a reply in a thread, and I received a php error so I used "BACK" and reposted and got the double post. When I opened one and tried to delete it there was no apparent way (as was mentioned above). I tried to remove all contents and post it, but php does not allow that either, so i searched for a help file and found none. After that I thought I would post the recommendation.
