I cannot agree enough with that statement... I have only been a member here a short while but this also is the only site that I consistently enjoy and look forward to visiting on a daily basis. The forums and contributors are great! I thoroughly enjoy coming here to catch up on the latest topics. The information and wisdom I have gained through others on this site has been awesome. I have grown to become truly addicted to the art of being a Home Barista and take pride in the fact that I can competently put what I've learned here into practice.
Thanks to all! :D

HB wrote:Thanks everyone, it's been a fun two years. And to give credit where credit is due, HB is a collective effort of many individuals:
  • Team HB - Abe Carmeli, Steve Robinson, Jeff Sawdy, Jim Schulman, Dave Stephens, Chris Tacy, and John Weiss plus advisers Sean Lennon and Bob Roseman.
  • Authors - Abe Carmeli, Ken Fox, Jon Rosenthal, Greg Scace, Jim Schulman, Dave Stephens, Chris Tacy, Lino Verna, Mike Walsh, and Bob Yellin.
  • Contributors - without the regular contributions of expertise and insight, the forums would falter. I owe a debt of gratitude to all the forum contributors. My special thanks go out to contributors Team HB, Ken Fox, Barry Jarrett, Eric Svendson, Mike McGinness, Greg Moore, Greg Scace, Andy Schecter, Timo888, and Lino Verna.
  • Community - some members join and offer a few pearls of wisdom in their first week, never to be heard from again, others contribute their experience and opinion daily; the site's FAQs and Favorites lists over 200 of the best discussion threads to-date. I am grateful to those who have initiated and contributed to these noteworthy discussions.
  • Sponsors - without sponsor support, there would be no reviews, no Bench, and no contest prizes. I sincerely appreciate their support of the online espresso community, tolerance of my frequent cajoling for prizes, and enthusiasm for HB projects.

Stone Soup, baybee! But YOU da man, Dan!

Many many thanks for a wonderful WONDERFUL Website! Happy Birthday from John, Claire and JackJack (who is also 2 years old today):

HB squared. (what no superscript?)

Thanks Dan for asking me to join Team HB and all the things you do to make this a premier forum.

A very special thanks to all the HB forum members that frequent here (or just pop in from time to time), HB would be nothing without the community we have today.

Thanks Dan for all your efforts and thanks to everyone else for contributing so much to this great forum. Michael

PS, Cannonfodder, I'm going to remember the "box of parts" line -- good one.

How do you communicate and teach what is largely a tactile/sensuous experience via an electronic medium? From smelling and tasting to visualizing the water dance, and feeling the grinds as they distribute under your fingers, and listening for just the right sounds from milk steaming, espresso and milk-based-drink-making is a daunting, albeit extremely rewarding, endeavor to pursue, never mind teach (how do you like that for a run-on sentence?). And to do it all as successfully as H-B has done it is truly amazing. In the year that I have been using my HX I have, thanks to you all, begun to recognize what good espresso might be. You all (and my tastebuds...) have been the measure of my espresso technique and product, not some local cafe where I could go to sense and ask questions (I don't have one!).

This is a long way of recognizing all of your efforts and generosity, and saying thank you. Happy (belated) Birthday H-B. Thank you Dan; thank you all.

p.s. I bought some coffee with the sale discounts, but am awating the monster grinder review that I read might be coming (soon?) for a grinder upgrade....

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to thank you all for participating in the 2 Year Celebration with H-B and Intelligentsia.

We currently have 35 people in the drawing for the 6 months of Roaster's Choice. I'm still accepting the Mail-In entries, and will continue until this Friday. Due to the SCAA show, I will be holding the actual drawing next week either Wednesday or Thursday and will report the winner in this Thread on Friday, May 11.

Thanks again, and Happy Anniversary H-B! See you all in Long Beach.

Thanks Matt, that's fantastic! For those new to the site, Intelligentsia Coffee has been with HB from the start and they never fail to graciously agree to whatever outrageous giveaway idea I've proposed. Matt surprised me with this one - a six month subscription to their Roaster's Choice, valued at $225.

All you have to do is mail your name, address, phone, and email to:

Home-Barista 2nd Anniversary c/o Matt Riddle
Intelligentsia Coffee
1850 W. Fulton St.,
Chicago, IL 60612
