The Home-Barista.com and Counter Culture Coffee countdown contest!

    Image
"Coffee Driven People, People Driven Coffee"
Huh? What does this mean? Each time you click a link to read a post, the site's message view count increases. Hard to believe that it's been almost one million clicks in one year. Well, a lot of them are probably google spiders and other bots. But hey, it's still cause to celebrate!

UPDATED 05/31: Congratulations jesawdy, you've won a Summer of Coffee from Counter Culture! But there's something for everyone else!

MarkO wrote:All of us here have had so much fun reading the contest thread. Many thanks to H-B for hosting, and to everyone who participated. In appreciation for the enthusiastic membership of H-B, we'd like to offer a coupon for $5 off any online coffee purchase. To use the coupon, simply type 'hbmillion' (without quotation marks) at the coupon prompt.

The offer is valid through Sunday June 4th.

All the best,

Thanks to all who entered and shared their pithy comments, it was fun. :-)

How do I enter? This contest thread is "special" -- your reply to this thread will automatically include the current view count from the forum index page (i.e., "These messages has been seen 974K times" near the bottom). Reply with one or more excerpted sentences from http://www.counterculturecoffee.com and you're in the countdown contest. See the example post that follows.

How do I win? The member whose post is (a) closest to a milestone without going over and (b) the entrant's excerpted sentence has not been previously posted.

What can I win? The grand prize is a summer of coffee with winners at each 5,000 message views milestone:
980,000 views = one bag of Counter Culture Coffee
985,000 views = one bag of Counter Culture Coffee
990,000 views = one bag of Counter Culture Coffee
995,000 views = one bag of Counter Culture Coffee
1,000,000 views = summer of coffee from Counter Culture Coffee (one bag of coffee per week for 12 weeks)
Entrants can win more than one milestone.

Questions about the rules? Reply to this thread. Questions about the contest will not be considered entries. An entry must include an excerpt from Counter Culture Coffee's website to be considered valid (any phrase will do as long as it's unique).

Reminder: Replies to this thread cannot be modified or deleted. You can enter as many times as you wish by replying, but each excerpted phrase from http://www.counterculturecoffee.com must be unique and spammish replies will be disqualified. Limited to residents of the lower 48 United States. Offer void where prohibited. Keep in mind that the site performance degrades noticeably when there's near simultaneous posts; those submitting last-second entries ("snipers") risk missing the milestone.

We've been singing praises for this region's coffee all year, and this Super Lot deserves special recognition. We paid the co-op more than double our contracted price for this coffee, sending the clear message that we are eager to pay up for an extraordinary coffee experience. Although it goes without saying, it was well worth it!

East Timor, located east of Java in the Indonesian archipelago, produces organic coffees in the classic "Java" style. Usually cleaner in taste than their Sumatran cousins, great Timorese coffees are heavy-bodied and low in acidity, with a touch of sweet cedar in the finish. This is the flavor profile that made Indonesia famous. If you like Sumatra, you will love Timor

                          Sounds yummy!

In the south of Italy, especially in the city of Naples, caffe forte or "strong coffee" is the favorite. Coffees selected for their intensity are roasted to a deep chestnut color, which brings out the bittersweet, smoky flavor. Lovers of Seattle-style espresso will love La Forza.

I'm not eligible of course, but found the blog entries interesting:

Our new Atlanta education and training center will be ready to go very soon.

We secured an amazing space in a revitalized factory complex on West Marietta Street called the King Plow Arts Center. Walled by exposed original brick, the loft-style space features original hardwood flooring that highlights the building's age in a subtle, interesting way. The light beams in from three large factory windows to create a warm and inviting feel.

Brett Smith mentioned that we're welcome to come visit when they're up and running. He says the locale is even better than the Charlotte or the under-construction training center in Durham. HB's Bob Roseman will certainly be well situated to provide firsthand accounts of the newest Counter Culture Coffee training center. I'm envious!

It just makes sense- the greatest coffees are grown in rich, organic soil, shaded by indigenous forest teeming with flora and fauna, and hand-tended and harvested by skilled craftsmen who are deeply connected with traditional farming techniques.

At Counter Culture, coffee isn't merely a bean or a beverage. It's the furthest thing from a commodity. Coffee is a process involving high standards and tough decisions. Coffee is relationships and responsibilities. More than anything, coffee is a connective force that has the potential to bring out the best in people.

                                  This is interesting! :D
