Hi everyone,

this question is pretty much only for Gold Pro 2 tip users, so if you're one of them maybe you can help. I'm try to manufacture a GoldPro-like tip for my Andreja and was wondering what's the diameter of the holes on the original. I can't use GP2 because Andreja has no-burn wands and can only take threaded tips with M8 threads.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,
dsc.

Hi Dan,

Using the adapter has two negative sides (IMHO):

- additional element which can make cleaning harder

- I would have to pay probably around 25$ for shipping and buy the tip anyway. For the price of the adapter I can have the whole thing manufactured, especially as it's a friend who's making the tip.

Cheers,
dsc.

I just got Vetrano a few days ago. I ordered the adapter that Dan linked to with Vetrano, and I have a steam tip similar to the GP2HST.

I would say that:

1. The addition of the adapter adds nothing to the cleanability of the wand. It's totally fine. If you want a 2-hole tip, I would suggest going the adaptor route, and maybe get this tip with the adapter dan mentioned.

2. You would be wasting your time with manufacturing a copy. I got the adapter because I was worried about having trouble with a powerful boiler & tip after being so used to my somewhat anemic "Chrome Peacock," which I have been using exclusively for almost a year. I usually only steam about 3-4 oz. at a time in a 12 oz (Motta Europa, oooh) pitcher, so I was very worried about the tip on Vetrano blowing me out. I was pretty surprised how well paired with the machine it was, and I wasn't overly impressed with the "low flow" tip.

I would recommend that you spend the time you would have spent designing, cutting, and more than likely redoing that low-flow tip, and just work more on Andreja's stock tip--it took me a lot of work to learn to steam low volumes of milk on my old La Valentina (same type of machine) with a stock tip, but it really pays off. It really is amazing how much more time it takes to steam with a low-flow type tip--I think it just ends up getting irritating.

Of course, that's all just my 2¢ based on my own experience with such steam tips.

My 2 cents worth...I bought the Isomac 2 hole tip and it was too much of a restriction, (although I did need to downsize from the 4 hole standard tip I had) the original hole size was under .040", so I took my number drill index and enlarged them to .052" & it seems to be perfect for me. If you don't have a number set and find the holes too small, you could use a 1/16 drill bit and be at .0625".

I recently got a Gold Pro 2, and my 1mm drill bit is a very good fit in the holes, so that's .040" as Danetrainer said above. I also found the holes to be way too small. Steaming was incredibly sloooooow. So personally I'd make them somewhat larger than that. I have another 2-hole tip which has holes of approx. 1.4mm (.055") and that I find pretty close to the optimum size for me.

Bill
