Four new doserless Mazzer grinders

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

Sort of....

I received a email from Mazzer that contained advanced info concerning their latest grinders. If anyone can give me easy instructions on how to upload a PDF to HB I will post the spec sheet/photos. In the meantime here is a brief rundown...

Major Electronic
Royal Electronic
Kony Electronic
Robur Electronic

All are doserless and appear to use the same electronic controls as the Mini Electronic. I haven't done any motor or burr size comparisons yet, but a quick glance seems that no changes have been made there.

Speaking of grinders, I've got the brand new (yet to be officially named) Mazzer Super Jolly knockoff in house. It uses the Mazzer burr set and motor and comes in doser version only. Initial testing (just playing around so far) is proving this to be a very good grinder at a very reasonable price, think Mazzer Mini pricing. I'll post more impressions as I get them, plus I've got one I need to send around to the usual Team HB'ers for evaluation.

Here you go: Mazzer Electronic Grinders (click "Save Target As..." for Internet Explorer or "Save Link As..." for Firefox).

That little doser on the Robur looks out of place.

I wonder if it will be possible to replace the electronic touchpad on my Mini-E with the new one?

Hello everybody from germany,

so it looks like mazzer could have a real winner for the home barista, if only they would add that LED adjustment mechanism.
It seems that the four new electronic grinders from mazzer do have just that kind of adjustment mechanism (of course they are aimed for the busy coffee environment, where adjustment with a tiny screwdriver would be very strange and unsatisfying). Meanwhile there are rumors that mazzer is planning to modify the mini a (with power cord coming from underneath instead of from the side). So my question is, if mazzer is planning to bring out the mini e with the same adjustment mechanism used for the new grinders to deliver an adequate response to the new contender from macap.
In that other thread, Joe (ebprod) asked if that new touchpad would fit on his current mini e. So far I don't think this replacement would make any sense, because you need a different adjustment mechanism, not only a different touchpad.
So is there anybody out there with good connections to mazzer able to answer that question? I see a clear opportunity for mazzer to deliver just what the home barista needs.

Ciao, Tom

Espressoparts expects the first delivery of these units within 60 days. We have been playing around with different versions for a few now and in conversation with Luca at the HOST show in Milan last week, it seems UL / ETL listing could be had in about six months.

As with the 3 Phase Roburs Espressoparts expects to be the source for a short time.

Thanks for the update Terry. Do you know if the LED timer adjustment (below) for these "big boy" grinders will be available for the Mazzer Mini Electronic?

I think this initiative is promising, and have a keen eye to that Kony in a chopped down or hopperless version! Only thing I would worry about is potential clumping due to static?

Luca with Mazzer Italy informed me that 4 Mazzer Doser-less models including the Kony, Major and Robur are now available in the US. I didn't see them appearing on any of our normal vendors.
Has anyone got any info?
