INSANITY :!: Yesterday I ordered the parts to PID rope heater mod Silvia's grouphead. But that slightly damaged Fiorenzato Bricoletta Direct Connect Lever Chris mentioned to me yesterday kept whispering to me. (interestingly sounds damaged exactly like the machine in Chris Tacy's Pro's review, said review one of the factors pushing me over the edge). Called Chris back today and yes, he was serious, only $800, it's still available, but he was just heading out the door for an Aerosmith concert so couldn't chat long, said he'll put it on the bench for a full check out tomorrow.

So much for me saying I don't want an HX...

Besides, now I'll wait to do Silvia's grouphead mod until Bric setup so won't be without a machine at least a full day while epoxy curing! :D

Your timing couldn't be better.

Seem to recall you may have mentioned it that day I was over checking out the LM GS3. However, was in a state of shock & awe and whatever was discussed about a Bric' project went in one ear (rattled around the void) and out the other. Googling "Monster Bricoletta" offered no enlightenment, not that I thought it would since I believe it's currently a Black Op' project.

And just when I thought I was done spending $ and modding going from a Silvia to my Bric. *sigh*

Look at it this way... instead of having "replacement upgrade fever" you'll be able to have "modification upgrade fever" which should be dramatically less expensive.

Just got off the phone with Chris. (not you obviously) My Bric' checks out and ready to ship. Any advance "Monster" tidbits you'd care to tantalize me with! Brew pressure gauge I'm sure, possibly different vac valve breaker but what else, anything involving a PID? Just curious since I have one coming for Silvia grouphead mod but might not proceed with that if "needed" for Bric'.

Then again, I'm dying to know just how well accurately pre-heating Silvia's grouphead will stabilize a series of shots so even if to be used in Bric' will likely just make it an easly removeable temporary installation. (except for the epoxied rope heater on the group of course, it'd just stay on unconnected)

Great question! When I got my Bric' I decided to wait until the 'Project' released before doing any mods. Hmmm, a CEME psat, vacuum breaker used on the Quick Mills from Chris and ceramic insulation blanket all scheduled to arrive in the next few days. Couldn't decide on which dual gauge so will wait to add active shot pressure monitoring. But will a PID be used some how some where some way :!: Active shot temp monitoring :?: What will the secret sources reveal!

I added a CEME pstat to mine, but I think I killed it during descaling (don't ask). The vacuum breaker upgrade I have done as well, and it's well worth it. I also used ceramic insulation blanket on my boiler. Sounds like we're going down the same path here. My next upgrade is probably a small static tank to mitigate the 20-40 bar swings on line pressure that are inherent in FloJet installations. Other than that, I'm waiting to see what comes of this project. The results are probably one of the largest influences in whether I go the GS3 route....

Between the Holiday Retail Season (on one side) and the GS3 Review (on the other), the Monster Bricc Project has fallen a little behind schedule. None the less, it is still underway and now that the Holidays are over and the Review is done it should be back in full force soon and completed before you know it.

Exciting.

I'll offer my guess (we should start a pool). No PID ... some kind of modification to the thermosyphon loop, either tube lengths & diameters or another flow control device ... some kind of real-time temp readout, probably in the group somewhere ... adding a brew pressure gauge.

Any other guesses?

Ok, I'll refrain from ordering anything else from EPNW until the project is completed. (But get that CEME I ordered two days ago shipped please. )

Any update on the timeline for the Monster Bric(c)oletta now that the GS3 is gone?
