Greetings LMWDP'ers...

My Lever machine has been beset with p-stat failure. Anyway, I see the new elektras use the new style pstat, replaced the older diaphragm/microswitch.

I need to convert the pressurestat to the plug style, but so far, hooking it up fails... the unit doesn't turn off the boiler... at all.

Anyone with experience in this conversion?

Cheers,
Jimmy

I should add, there is conduction between the plug which normally carries no charge when tested with an ohm-meter (a ground?), while the two normally used do conduct a charge.

Confused. I wish I paid more attention now in science class.

FYI, I contacted Stefano Cremonesi (stefano65) offline and he has offered to help you via e-mail (espressocare@msn.com).

Thanks Dan! I just emailed him.

Does he work for Elektra? I think I actually met him in Seattle. Very nice guy!!

I met Stefano in the Elektra booth at the SCAA too, but he doesn't work for them, he owns his own espresso machine repair company. He's a friendly guy and always willing to help. You'll see him posting frequently on CoffeeGeek (same login, stefano65). For the benefit of other Elektra owners who may have the same problem, please post the epilogue to your story.

So yes, it is possible to ditch the microswitch. It's as simple as unscrewing the diaphragm from the copper piping and hooking up the wires again. Just be sure to get the wire from the power supply to the right terminal, and the other wire to the terminal adjacent. I'll take photos later.

I also had problems with stuck thermostats. I had to unscrew the p-stat screw, and push in and out a few times the pin connected to the diaphragm. A few ccs of water came out, I reattached the screw, and it worked again, no prob.
