Wow, that looks like a nice one with other parts (ie funnel and knock box) that you don't see very often. This should be fun!

BTW, I just came back from seeing Will at Home Espresso Repair in Seattle and picked up my Cremina. I'll post a few pics later.

It will be a treat to see it and even better to hear how it performs.

Bob,
Be nice! I am now the owner of a Zabar's Cremina and will let you know in due course if I got a deal or got less than a deal. If the description is accurate, some gaskets shouldn't be too hard to rustle up (he said hopefully). The machine seemed in decent shape but we shall see. I'm wondering how hard it is to remove decals from the side, but perhaps I have a one-of-a-kind and should leave it there to enhance its appreciation. Maybe I can repost it on eBay in a few months for $1200. Michael

Sorry Michael, I was tempted on that one but stayed out. It went beyond what I was willing to pay.
You are right though, with the way things are going you could probably relist and get over a grand for it in the future. However if it is a good one I bet you keep it for oh... lets say... 10 or 15 years... :D
And before I forget... CONGRATULATIONS... 8)

Bob, When it arrives and I find out what repairs it needs, I'll probably need your advice on fixing it. I remember a number of nicer Creminas for sale last year for less money, but that was before the bug struck. Now I just have to break the news to my wife. I'm searching for a good opportunity. There is always plenty of good and well informed advice on this forum... and plenty of us are empathetic and understanding when it comes to having stretched the budget a bit to get a prize. :)

I'm not sure it's a prize yet since it's not here. But I'm quite sure I'll need some rebuilding advice. Michael

My first post

Link to "EBay Olympia Cremina record?"by Dr. J on Sun Apr 29, 2007 6:23 pm

Have been lurking for a while.....reading, learning etc.....tried to get that cremina on ebay last week

that mgwolf snatched.....saw this today and couldn't resist.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/OLYMPIA-CREMIN...rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Sure it took the fun out of the bidding but considering last weeks cremina went for 810usd with a non working

water level.....this seemed like a pretty good deal (just have to convince the wife of that).

Hope it works out. Any thoughts on the price...did I do okay?

IMLTHO, you done fine!
After a bit of use, you won't care what you paid! and if you treat the wife correctly! eg..make whatever drink she wants and get whatever flavors she likes, then you will be in heaven.....And, she will learn too and a happily buzzed household is a happy one!
I've had mine about a year and it would leave over .....no, there would be a dead body ..not mine.. if it were to be removed.
Enjoy, It is worth all the love you give it.

sincerely

Holy Moses... That one was on Ebay for all of 2hours and 36 minutes... Congratulations! Looks as if you got a great machine. Let us know how she works. As has been mentioned $750.00 is not a bad price for these machines if they are in good condition. Welcome!
Just for the record... here she is...

Grinder....

Link to "EBay Olympia Cremina record?"by Dr. J on Mon Apr 30, 2007 12:54 pm

I do need a grinder now......have spent most of my time reading about espresso machines and
only a small amount re the grinders.

Thinking about a mazzer mini (I am the type to buy once and not have to upgrade) and there is a great store
in town that carries high end products. Even though this post is slightly out of place I assume most in here
either own or want to own a cremina.

?Good grinder match?

thanks

Mazzers are very popular grinders. Excellent reputation. As you are considering a high-end grinder, check out H-B's very own grinder shoot out. Lots of info, good read. I found it really helpful and educational.

The Mazzer Mini is an excellent choice to go with your Cremina.
