[clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]! She is pretty small isn't she... I remember the first time I unboxed mine... I had seen a couple hundred photos and still wasn't prepared for the small size...

Sooo... COngratulations are in order! What kind of shape is it in and are you doing shots? This is the same conversion as the one currently on ebay? For a while I thought you were reselling yours, that is until I noted the plug on yours is a new one and the one on ebay is antiquated. I had originally asked you a boatload of questions thinking this was a resale... 'shoot'! Well I guess I'll stick with the current game in town on the auction block. I always get nervous when my questions aren't answered by the seller... Ya think I may be a bidder on the current?

It's in better shape than I expected. Either it got restored somewhere down the line or it sat unused for a while. I posted some pics in the LMWDP thread. I bid on it and didn't expect to win even though the start was high. I did a descaling and tried some shots. something to get used to. The shots didn't taste bad at all but not a lot of crema. I don't think I was pulling down hard enough.

The steam started wet during the descaling but has dried out after running fresh water through. Haven't steamed with it yet. Took apart the lever and pins to check them out and relube them. It's working really good.

I was hoping she'd be small. Originally I was looking for a portable machine to take along on road trips but ironically she's in such good condition I'm thinking I might not risk it.

On the third try I got lucky and pulled a very good shot. The shot's depth of character was suprising. I'd have to say better than my Vetrano's. Very rewarding to use and fun. Glad to have found her.

A La Pavoni Europiccola is the perfect road trip take along, weighs a lot less than the Cremina. Plenty of cheap ones on eBay. See the travel thread:

Thanks Fullsack :)

I will probably pick up a Europiccola down the road when my wife reinstates my allowance  If the Cremina hadn't come along I was going to get either a Europiccola, Professional or a Factory.

Nice suitcase set up! 8)

But alas, What is this? Is this a 220 conversion or is it an attempt at a 220V conversion?

So is this going to be another flop or another popcorn and soda event? Stay tuned to your auction channel...

Well that was dull at the end, one over bid to $616. Looks like the bottom is dropping out of the market. :)

Bottom dropping out? Seems that's within the range of most Olympias sold for a while now, $525 to $800. But I could be wrong since I've only been looking for a year or so. I've bid on many and set my limit to the $650 range figuring that one day I would win one.

And today I won one!

John

When I bought my Ponte Vecchio in Jan. of 2006 I thought the $300-400 that the used Creminas were selling for was too high. I opted to spend $400 for the new PV because I wanted it to work on arrival and did not have patience for a resoration. Since that time the Creminas have appreciated between 75-100%, so I'd say I missed out on a good investment.

I look at these old machines to be like old cars... I expect to work on them. That's part of the fun for me. When I bought my Tea I figured to spend a couple months figuring out how it worked and replacing a few items. I ended up replacing some wiring, tubing, and the usual seals and have been very happy.

Getting the Cremina was just one of several opportunities for an older lever machine. There were many others that I would/could/did bid on and would have enjoyed tinkering with them.

As for investments I'm a buy and hold guy myself. :)

Congratulations John, welcome to the Cremina club. Let us know what goes on with the Ebay purchase. I got mine on ebay and I know such buys can make for great hobby time enjoyment.

And here we have a '81 Cremina new to the auction block... I have already questioned the writing of his description. It does not make any sense that he is stating this was made in the late '80s. It is a '81 and the power cord looks new.

It is interesting to watch how some of these auctions play out. That's why Fullsack needs his popcorn.

I don't know how many of these machines that I've bid on only to see it won by someone else at the last second or to see the bids go through the roof. I fully expected this one to do the same but as someone said earlier you just never know how it will turn out.

I was pleasantly surprised to win. Of course now I have to wait for it to get here.

The '81 Cremina that I listed a few posts back went for $621.00. Not bad for the seller considering it is missing the drip pan and tray (could be a half a year for the buyer to get the parts). :?

People know that these units can demand top dollar... starting bid $600.00 (not as high as some other starts) anyone interested?
Here we have a '83 Cremina new to Ebay on 4/24
