That's me. Honestly, I NEVER expected to win this machine and I am wondering what I have gotten myself into. I will post pics when it arrives, and then throw myself on your (all of you) collective mercy.

I absolutely know that I am NOT up to a big restoration job. Sheesh, I've barely figured out the opposable thumbs thing

HOW good you did will be determined by what you find in your box.... I would say you DID GOOD! Cathy. Good luck and have fun being excited waiting for your machine.

Thumbs are over-rated on some things...

Guess you don't really need them to push down that lever. Thanks for the encouragement.

Cathi,
Welcome to the Ebay/Cremina adventure! I am sure any problems that you encounter can be solved on this site. Cost and parts may be another story but we will cross that bridge if and when it is necesary...
Once again congradulations and welcome to the Cremina theme park...

Thanks to you all for the "thumbs up" I am anxiously awaiting delivery, but it will most likely be a full week from Monday, as package is travelling from coast to coast.

Timo if you're following this, obviously I decided NOT to hold out for the Lusso. I really didn't think I'd be able to score one for under the cost of a new Lusso, but the Fates were (hopefully) smilling on me.

In case you missed the action, the rebuild '88 Cremina went unsold. The highest bid was $510, not enough to meet the reserve. Is this Cremina value death watch or just a fluke?

Ebay works a bit like Vegas - people can get caught up in the bidding process, and there is an element of stochasticity in the outcome. I've had it happen myself during the final seconds of bidding for hand grinders. Yours looks like an exceptional Cremina - I'm surprised the bidding didn't go higher, but it might next time.

The knives of friends are twice as sharp.....

or as I heard on The Daily Show / Jon Stewart the other night with regards to his interview with Ambassador Bolton

LBJ quote- "Better to have your enemies in your tent pissin' out instead of 'em outside pissin' in"= In reference to Lincoln and LBJ placing political opponents in administration positions to keep an eye on them and to some extent -control..Quote is that of the latter.....

Fluke gets my vote. My stomache did a flip-flop before I figured out that the reserve wasn't met. If you wait a bit I'm sure the fever will rebuild itself. Or, you could always offer it up on CG. The guy that bid on the one that went for $800 is a regular (assuming its the same G-nomer).

Sorry Greg, but that Mini just got the better of me. Not sure if its the all-brass boiler (I thought they were all aluminum), or the 58-mm basket, or the open boiler, but I let envy get the better of me

Oh well, if I had to choose one lever machine for my current life style the PV Export is perfect. But as we all know lever machines are like potato chips.....

Yes, that was me  I'm a little embarassed about spending so much on a '74 but with the last Cremina going for $1200+, I believe, I didn't think my bid would stand anyway.

Oops again...my iRoast went just after I put the bid in and I was forced to get another roaster. The Hottop programmable is what I was saving for. I was hoping to hang on with the iRoast for a while and get a lever machine and wait to see if the Hottop programmable prices dropped a bit. Oh well  It was hard watching the '74 hoping I'd win but hoping too I'd be outbid. My wife has been very understanding but my allowance is cutoff for the rest of the year or until the Cremina gets paid off

Frankly, I didn't think mine would stand either. I was quite surprized.

Hope you'll post pics here when it arrives. Supposedly mine's on its way.

Absolutely! It's shipping Saturday and I'm going to take a good look at it to see if it needs to be taken apart for a good clean/restoration. I was looking at yours and it looked ripe for a bidding war so I bid on the other one thinking the focus would be on the newer machine. If I'd lost the '74 I would have probably jumped in for yours. Good deal that one.

Another Cremina lurks the auctions of Ebay... Its a '74.
Image

But alas, What is this? Is this a 220 conversion or is it an attempt at a 220V conversion?

So is this going to be another flop or another popcorn and soda event? Stay tuned to your auction channel...

I just got the '74 from ebay. The same 1 stamped over the 2 is on the machine. The plug is 110V and runs on 110V.
