This is almost the identical machine, (26 serial numbers higher), than the '88 I paid the $1,261 that started this thread. With the exception of the drip tray, it's in comparable shape. My completely rebuilt '88 went unsold on eBay after 2 attempts in the high $800s. It's clear that the Cremina market has softened considerably since its peak in March.

During the summer, all markets suffer till just before Thanksgiving.

Doug, a Cremina went for $910 or so right before you listed the first time---- this market is always fickled- And with Richard's observations - that means it is time for us all to buy more machines---- DEAR SANTA......

The Creminas are still demanding a pretty penny on Ebay... the '81 That I posted in an earlier post went for $847.00 tonight.

Answered my own question....

Link to "EBay Olympia Cremina record?"by Dr. J on Tue Jun 05, 2007 1:46 pm

A few pages ago....I asked if I got a reasonable "deal" on my cremina. Having never made espresso
before in my life (but drank a fair amount of latte's, americanos etc from $B) I took the plunge.

Now on my 3rd week with my cremina and my mazzer mini with a short hopper I must say I should
have taken the advice I was offered earlier.....that being to think twice before I buy
because I will ruin all (almost) other coffee for myself.

Although I am still waiting on my 2 elektra double baskets which will complete my set I now admit that
my drip coffee has almost no flavor to me, and I ordered an americano on my way to work the other day
(was running late)
and not only was it horribly weak but it tasted like dirt....not "earthy" but like burnt dirt.

So now I'm stuck making my own at home just as I was warned.

I have been using black cat which at first I didnt enjoy very much (because my shots sucked), but suddenly came alive
once I got my grind and tamp right. Now I can taste the carmel and subtle undertones mentioned on the bag.

So was the $725 bucks for the cremina and the 500+ for my mazzer worth it....definitely yes. I'm just glad that I
didnt start small and then have upgrade fever 2 months later.

Aside from a small ding on the top lt corner of the machine (which cant be seen unless you look straight down)
and a non functioning siteglass (no big deal) everything was as promised. he site glass may be scale only...havent
taken the time to investigate yet.

Cheers

It is always good to have more happy people in the pool with the rest of us. People are just going to look at you strange when you try to explain how good it can be.... So have fun and keep involved with us ! One word of caution- please look after getting your site glass operational - since this is the only way to know if you are getting close to an empty tank- We have all done this and said to ourselves- " I always put water in ever morning -so I am OK" ...It will happen and you can get very low in the tank- Best not to risk a element replacement. Even a cup of white vinegar mixed in with a tank of water might do the job- just let it come up to temp and let it sit for a little while. Don't be shy on the only "gauge " you have. The machines are very simple to do some basics- I had a little scum on the inside of my site glass and all you have to do is unscrew the pressure relief valve and set it aside. It sits directly atop the site glass- I then took a long bamboo skewer and was able to gently scrub the inside of the tube clean. Screw the valve back on and good to go. Inquire if we can help you solve this simple indicator. and Oh yeah- keep enjoying those shots

Yep, You did it the right way. I started out years ago with Gaggias, then Rancilio, then La Pavonis (I still have 2), Now Creminas... I must admit the addiction really got strong when I experienced the "Lever". I still have 3 rebuilt Gaggia "Coffee" Espresso machines in my shop that I have not yet put on Ebay. One is missing the tray still... I just haven't taken the time to get rid of them... Oh well perhaps in the winter I will get around to it.

Wow, that is the first time I have seen a "club". I thought the picture was distorted at first, but the boiler is completely different.

By no means knocking the Cremina, but side by side with my Gaggia, I find I prefer the shots on my Gaggia. I SOOO want to adore my Olympia. I LOVE the stability during a pull, but the cups just don't pan out for my taste. I think soon, my Cremina will be looking for a new home.

Indeed it is! It's just been so damn busy I haven't been around here much. Hey, I just realized we should have met up at the latest PNWG V with me being in the area and all.

How goes you? You seem to be having fun with your rebuild. I need to go catch up.

Now that CG has a lever sub forum and Mark purchased Greg's Cremina, you can expect a spike in Cremina prices.

Not sure if this person will get their price, but if they do it will clobber the previous records.

Olympia Cremnia Espresso machine - $1800

Olympia Cremnia Espresso machine. THIS MACHINE HAS NEVER BEEN USED! Includes all accessories and owners booklet. Rare Chocolate colored unit. Priced for a quick sale - if your looking at this machine, you know what it is and that it sells for $2300.00 plus! IF YOU CAN FIND ONE!

I sincerely doubt that another unused machine exists!

Yes it does, right down to the "rare Colored Chocolate unit" description. Both colored and chocolate are in caps in both descritions. Somebody on GC supposedly purchased this, I wonder if he has received it yet?

Too bad a good espresso machine is now thought-of as a vehicle for investing.
