Darn it! Small nick on finish of new Mazzer Mini

Grinders are one of the keys to exceptional espresso. Discuss them here.

I just got my Mazzer Mini E type A a few hours ago. In my excitement in getting it looking nice, I started taking off the many warning stickers and other stuff attached to the surface of the grinder leaving that sticky film. I (not very smart I know) then used a razor blade to try and gently peel away to gunk leaving a small nick on the finish. Not very noticeable but I was wondering what I could use to buff it out or get rid of the blemish on my now 6 hour old grinder. Thanks.
I'm still in the process of trying to fine tune the grind, haven't messed up that part of it yet=)

i always use nail polish in either the color of the finish, or clear, to secure issues on paint jobs -- be it a car or my espresso machinery.

I am sure most know this, but the old friend WD40 will remove all sticker gunk very easily with a little elbow rubbin'.
No chance to scratch.
After you are finished getting the gunk off, a lite wipe with alcohol will clean up any WD40 residue.
The Fingernail polish is a great tip-!!! That stuff comes in any color and really matches metallic paint well and comes in the smallest amount possible.....

Thanks for the tips. What do you do if you've already nicked the finish? It seems like it's some sort of coating over the aluminum.

Thanks for the WD40 tip.

I found plain isopropyl alcohol useful.

As to the nick - I do feel your pain. Ignore it - in a month, every unit has some nicks.

I have some Goo-B-Gone I typically use for that, although no need to buy some if you have some WD-40 lying around.

Either Silver fingernail polish and/or clear coat should minimize the infraction... or back to where you started... put an appropriate sticker back in place

As a last resort, I've used "3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, part num 08984." It's powerful enough that I don't get it on my skin & make sure I have adeqate ventilation. It does seem to dissolve most any gunk, even cleaning windshield wiper blades which often reduces smearing.

You could also try getting some touch-up paint at a local auto supply/parts store (Auto Zone, Murray's, etc.). They should have something close to your Mini's color but the price is usually around $10. It's durable enough to use on cars, so that could be another option.

This was the "appropriate" sticker for my generation...

Seriously though, after a year of two of use, you'll have several little dings and scratches on your grinder, machine, PF and so on. Mine sure do and I'm picky about things, so these blemishes just seem to occur with normal daily use.

If you have a small buffing wheel, a light polish with it (after the paint cures) will help blend in the touch up following your nail polish or whatever-
