OK...now that my new 51mm Reg is obsolete...haha....do I want a 49mm for my Cremina, or just slightly smaller...like 48.5?
I'd like to stay Reg'ed...he made me a beautiful engraved handle.
A deep thought...5 years I'm doing 58mm, 4 weeks an 51mm...now it'll be a 49mm thing...anyone see a pattern here?....by this time next year, I'll be grinding into a thimble
I apologize if this appears elsewhere on this Forum...I forgot to search.

Edit...Search worked really well...except none of the threads actually came right out with the answer...what is the piston size needed...??....is a straight 49mm to big, to small?...

Right.

Try this cool new fangled search tool called "google": tamper+size+for+Olympia+Cremina. And HB has its own search that is blazing fast: Olympia Cremina filter basket and tamper size?

Yes,Dan...as I posted (we crossed ) the search worked great...except they went off topic..a bit.
Hey, what are you doing up so late?....my excuse is I'm still a bit shaky from the good news today....needed some, it's been a rough couple of weeks emotionally...business related.....
Back OT.....only one of the threads I perused mentioned the possibility of adding a couple of tenths to the 49mm size...truth is, as i discover in the 4 short weeks I've had the La Pavoni, tamping means a bit less with a lever...at least that one....I just evened out the grind in the basket, did a 10 pounder for level, brushed away a stray grind, then did a 20 lb (or so0 tamp and light polish...The Pavoni seemed to like a slightly finer grind than Anita, but a much lighter tamp...In your opinion, a straight 49mm is the ticket?
BTW, my machine came from North Carolina...probably the only machine in the whole state you didn't get your hands on to experiment with!
As always, I appreciate all HB brings to my life...including another rolling eyed look from my wife, who wonders WTH I need another espresso machine. I quickly 'splained "Lucy, this ees not juss another espresso matcheen"
Didn't help
Get some sleep, bud!
Regards
RJ

Yes (unless you want to send out the basket for a custom fit).
