Just wanted to say I've received two lbs. of the Chris Coffee Black Pearl and liked it very much. Of course I'm no connoisseur, but the beans pulled a very nice crema and made excellent lattes.

Chris has been sending around lots of samples! You can read more comments on CG.

I had tried one of the three prior rounds during the blend's development and this latest sample is definitely an improvement -- a classic Northern Italian blend (e.g., almonds, citrus, mild finish) that was easy to pull. Lots of good striping and ample crema. Andy mentioned in his writeup the flavor of artichoke in the aftertaste. I noted mild green pepper, which added interest to the finish.

Black Pearl is sold in cafe-friendly 1 kilo bags.

No one has posted anything on this coffee in over a year . . . any thoughts? comments? tips?

I haven't tried it since my original post above. It sure would be nice if Chris sold it in smaller quantities; I think a one kilo bag is too much for casual experimentation.

just received this as part of my purchase from Chris'. I am a newbie but I loved this coffee. As espresso, it had a lot of chocolate and rich flavors, some berry, very smooth (I don't know all the right terms!) In my FP, it had a lot of fruit and citrus, very nice, sweet; smooooth and had a lot of crema, even in the FP.

My initial impressions with it are all using my Olympia Cafferex, and it's been quite easy to dial in. The straight double shot I pulled for myself was very fine indeed, and I got no complaints about the latte I made . . . more to come.
