I'm new here, but could stay a long time! My dream is to find lever machine to fix up/repair and learn how to use it (hopefully a piston machine). I've watched some of the pour videos here and am curious, is anyone using a bottomless portafilter on a lever? I'd love to see what's going on.

Naked,...sure

Yep,
lots of naked PF here. Of course the limitation is that many levers don't have the luxury of a 58mm commercial style pf or group size. So you have to buy an extra PF, and have it modified. I'm sure other more energetic members will pop some links in this thread to show you some examples. I have a commercial Conti lever- got a naked PF also. check back in, and good luck on your journey.

I use a naked portafilter regularly with a commercial Termazona (Brugnetti). Works great.

Hi Barry,

There's a lever machine currently for sale on Coffee Geek http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/members/buysell/259625 that might fit the bill.

I use a bottomless too, it's been a huge help.

Here is a clip of using bottomless portafilter on my lever machine. I cut my PF with a hole saw to make bottomless.

There's something so peaceful about a lever machine's silent operation. Thanks for sharing your video.
