I reviewed this coffee enthusiastically last year for coffeecuppers. This year's crop has not been picked up any of the usual vendors, since it's missing the nice baked fruit flavors. Nevertheless, I just ordered ten pounds of it.

Maple syrup goes with just about anything coffee; and this year's Cenaproc tastes like maple syrup, uncomplicated and sweet. It's just about the perfect base for espresso, particularly if you like beans with powerful or aggressive taste. It is unfortunately wet processed, although it has plenty of body, so it'll work best in combination with a Brazil, or as a base for dry processed coffees like Harars or Sidamos.

It works particularly well with blackberry & clove Kenyas or Yrgs, because the syrup softens the astringent edge of these coffees. It'll probably do the same service to aggressively woody coffees like Monsooned Malabar blends.

It's being sold, of all places, through amazon.com
