Hi all

Im looking to be buying a new grinder in the next week or so and there is a possibility that i could get hold of a used Berezza BB003 fairly cheap (as in about £100!).
It seems like a really good deal considering the price of the grinder when new, but Ive never used a Berezza before and was wondering if anyone had experience with them.
The machine ill be using it with is a Pavoni PL Professional.
If anyone has any other recommendations about grinders that would be best for my machine please post them up.

Thanks in advance.

Gareth.

I had taken a quick demo drive of the BB004 (the BB003's domestic little brother) some time ago as I was considering upgrading from Rocky. I found that the BB004 was better than the Rocky in terms of grind adjustability, but it did not grind any faster or better (burrs the same size). The doser seemed a bit too light duty and "plasticy" - like it would break easily. I also could also not find anyone else that had one or any good reviews so that scared me away. My overall impression was that it really wasn't that much of an upgrade over a Rocky - more of a lateral move. I would hope the BB003 has better build quality components. The BB004 did not seem as solid as a Rocky and certainly not like a Mazzer or Macap.

But, the BB003 is definitely more "commercial" than the BB004 I looked at - in fact (I didn't look at it too closely as it was waaaay out of my price range). It is much larger, has 64mm (I think) burrs, and bigger motor (I think 250W). It is rated for something like 6Kg/hr by the local dealer here.

Considering that the BB003 (at least here where I live) costs twice as much as a mazzer mini or Macap M4, if I could get one in good shape for your price, I would be scooping it up. Of course, you should make sure you can get replacement parts easily - would suck if the price of the used grinder plus a few maintenance parts was almost as much as a new Mazzer.

For comparison purposes here (in Canadian $)...the Rocky is about $425, the BB004 is $500, the Mazzer Mini/Macap M4 are about $550, and (the price is not listed anymore), the BB003 was about the $1000-$1100 mark if I recall correctly.

Thanks for the details.

I've only just got my pavoni but quickly realised my little cheap starbucks barista grinder aint gonna cut it any more, so was looking round at what i could pick up second hand relatively cheap.

Think ill give this a go if i can still get it n keep everyone posted.
