I got tired of this question and wrote this:

I was messing around today and came up with something that might be useful for Behmor users that run Windows and have .NET V2 installed.

If you want to see, it's here for your pleasure:

I believe if you have .NET installed, it will work as is. It's only a 44K downloads, 1 or 2 second download for most.

Most interested in comments if there are any.

Ira, Thats awesome! I downloaded the .net program (its 22mb), and was so surprised by your program.
I of course have another question (I hope you are tired of this, too!) all kidding aside...

Here is what I did, punched up 1lb, P2, then --- back to 13 minutes and hit "start". Now when I add back time after start, it does not increase the "range that is dropped in temperature" but shows 100% again on to the ending time. Is this correct?

Again, appreciate your time and this helpful resource...

As far as I understand, that's the way it works. If I'm told otherwise, I'll be happy to make it right.

The second page is supposed to be a database so you can store all your previous roast information and look it up. I'd love to know if you'd like that, and what you'd want to have stored.

Ira, How would I expand the amount of time at 70% and still have it occur at 8 minutes into the roast? Is it not possible then? Thx

I'm not a Behmor god, but as I understand it, about the only way is to open the door and that has it's own problems.

Ira, One thing I suggest you could add on the "Tab Page 2" just below the start time and end time windows, similar windows we could fill in the time for C1 & C2.
Also, maybe a window under the coffee type, for amount/oz. I have no clue how much trouble these changes take so dissregard as certainly this can be included on the same line.

Ira,

Just wanted to chime in and say Thanks for the great program.

Sure comes in handy.

Know if I can only get it to interface with my behmor. :D

Why thanks for the kind words.

The version with a database seems to work, but there is no install tool so if you're comfortable following instructions involving making a couple of folders and moving 5 files into 2 different folders:

http://www.extrasensory.com/Downloads/BehmorThing.zip

Make sure to read and follow the instructions contained in InstallingBehmorThing.txt inside the zip file.

I have not yet pulled the trigger on a roaster but I can appreciate how this little software tool will make lives easier.

When reading about setting the profiles I always had a hard time visualizing the time line.
As I currently roast in a stove top popper i find my self too busy to effectively record anything not to mention there are far more variables.

If i were to recommend a couple features to add, a list edit tab/section for personalized roast levels, I tend to follow Tom's from Sweet Maria's terms, I like that i can fill in my own but it would be nice to be able to add or modify the list. The same thing for the coffee list would be cool to, so one could remove coffees that are/or will not be in stock to help keep the list from getting out of control.

Just some thoughts and thanks for the great contribution.

Possible bug in the version i downloaded today I can not seem to edit My Ratings for day 1.

There are many improvements including all you've mentioned here and a number of bug fixes if you go grab the newest version. When updating, all you need is the BehmorThing.exe from the zip file. You likely don't ever want to replace the VDB file as it contains all your history.

Ira, wonderful program! I just used it alongside the roast as I did a FULL POUND of a green blend on [1#] [P4] [B]. No problem gettings to 2C. The profile levels seemed accurate with what the voltage was showing on the kill-a-watt.

Anyway, how can I save the data from this and any roast?

Also, with a few upgrades I think you'll having people sending you Paypal $ as a thank you! No kidding.

The newest version allows saving and later updating each roast's info. The link to the .ZIP file version is a few messages up. And again, please tell me if there's anything you'd like changed or added.

One thing that might really help out especially in the early stages of development would be a version and or build number on the about screen and in the readme.txt, so each time you fix a couple bugs and/or add a feature just up the build number. That would definitely help every one know which link to use and know if we have the latest updates.

Good point about not replacing the Data tables another good thing to add to the Readme would be update instructions.

Please let me know if I get annoying I used to do a bit of alpha and beta testing in college, so i tend to use the shot gun approach with Ideas and tweaks, so take what you like, and i am sure that if get to crazy some one here will be more than happy to tell me so.

Thanks again.

Not annoying at all.

For anyone looking for this, the link is:

http://www.extrasensory.com/Downloads/BehmorThing.zip

Installation instructions are located in the zip file.

The About button now indicates the Version number and it's currently at 1.0.4.0 so it's easy to check if you've got the newest version. Updates will likely slow down as the feedback from the early testers seems to have worked out most of the issues. As I've said before, feedback is welcome and reasonable suggestion will generally be incorporated in hours or days.

Ira
Thanks.

This has been updated to 1.0.6.0 which now allows deleting unwanted saved roasts. Probably some other stuff too, but it seems like the suggestions have stopped pouring in.

Guess maybe I should make a web page for it and maybe an install program.
