I use an autotamp (the one from autotamp.com) so far it is great as far as producing perfectly level and consistent tamp (something a spaz like me really needs). However, I was perplexed when I wanted to try different tamp pressure. I wanted to try a finer grind and lighter tamp. The fork that holds the pf could not go down further and that had me locked into a heavy tamp, so I removed it, inverted it and it's now highly adjustable in it's upside down state. The scary bit is the stock setting for me was a 55lb tamp which i think may have been causing me a few issues. By inverting the fork and lowering it slightly from stock I did a test tamp, marked the compression then measured the mark on my scale (you can remove the main head which contains the spring and the tamp). I now have it set on a 22lb tamp. My machine is heating up now, i've tightened my grind a bit and will give this a try and report back. Just thought this might be of interest to autotamp users because the device in stock fashion is one heavy dang tamper..
