Anyone have good mocha recipes?

Want to talk espresso but not sure which forum? If so, this is the right one.

So I tried making the traditional cafe' mocha in Espresso:Ultimate Coffee by Kenneth Davids and didn't much care for it. I did use Hershey's brand unsweetened chocolate instead of the dark chocolate the recipe calls for because thats what I had on hand. It was just to darn chocolatey and I couldn't even taste the coffee.

Now maybe thats how it's supposed to taste but dare I say I am accustomed to the chain style mocha(Tim Hortons, preferably). Not sure how they make them but you can definitely taste the coffee thru the hot chocolate.

So I was just wondering if anyone has some good mocha recipe's out there.

Ron

PS. Anyone ever think of adding a recipes section to this site?

Yes - good idea indeed!
As for the mocha, I did make the same thing you did - used cocoa in the Kenneth Davids way and I liked the results, first time the coffee taste was lost so I used less cocoa next time and it was better.

Ron, I have never read the book or author you quote...but since I love mochas and have been making
my own for over ten years, I will give you my general recipe.

I use the "Ghirardelli" brand sweet ground chocolate, and since I like a lot of coffee flavor I use only around
1 tablespoon in 4 to 6 ounces of milk, I just steam this right in a cup, pull a double shot of espresso, then
pour it in and stir. I've also been adding about 1 teaspoon of Hazelnut syrup...kinda hooked on that, Enjoy!
