Just got to think if someone ever did a group head pressure gauge for the Pavoni?

The pressure gauge that comes with the Pro is just to let you know the water is hot & steam is available, but to get that 9bars of pressure is impossible to know, ok, trial & error works but when using different sized baskets it would be nice to know what the pressure is inside the grouphead.

If anyone ever attempted this mod please let me know, (and where to get the necessary parts...)
Pics would be nice too! :D

Hi j7on,

You could attach something like this, which would fit your portafilter:

But you would be wasting your money, as all you need is a bathroom scale. Have a look about half-way down this thread, and you'll see that Steve Robinson has cleverly figured out that 40 lbs. of pressure on the lever translates to about 9bar at the grouphead. Very enlightening, non?

Cheers for your comments about my photos in your first post. Many factors affect the amount of crema, but most important is the freshness of the beans. Within one week after roasting seems to be the ideal time for optimal results, and I doubt you'd find that freshness in any pre-roasted beans from companies such as Lavazza or Illy. Have you thought about trying roasting green coffee beans at home? It's really quite easy, and cheaper as well!

That grinder you have is perplexing! Looks like it's meant to be used for raw meat rather than coffee beans. Quite impressive at any rate, and glad to hear it does a good job.

Thanks for that!

I heard about portafilter pressuregauges but never seen one, i wondered how it was constructed, now it makes sense.

I think i will get one because i am anyway getting a bottomless portafilter so i will have the original useless, i'll just screw that gauge on and "no more haulin' the scale to the bathroom & back" :)
