Any coffee/espresso conventions in the US open to the public?

Want to talk espresso but not sure which forum? If so, this is the right one.

Would love to know if there is a coffee/espresso convention in the United States where both dealers and manufacturers show up to promote their wares to the buying public.

There's the annual SCAA convention, and there's the Coffeefest Tradeshows. These are open to the public (if they pay for the floor pass); but they are primarily aimed at actual or prospective coffee professionals.

Marshall Fuss organizes an annual SCAA Homecoming for enthusiasts. It isn't much on demoing equipment (although the GS3 took a star turn last year), but it does always have some of the most interesting people in the business giving talks. The major attraction each year has been Heather Perry giving a one hour espresso making demo.

Looks like we'll have to take a pass this year and wait for things to settle down at SCAA.

or pass on the SCAA and do something without them. This is the final nail in the coffin of the SCAA "C-Member" program, which is now basically just a donation from consumers to a trade organization. I'll take a pass next time.

Be my guest. You organize it. Get Herbie Allen to host it!

The closest I'll ever get to Herbie Allen is (vicariously) through my young French teacher, who served all the people at the gathering as a banquet supervisor :P
